About Us

Beyond the scoop

At Howdy Homemade Ice Cream, we do more than serve amazing ice cream. We create a place where everyone belongs. Located in the Chapel Ridge Shopping Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Howdy Homemade Ice Cream is one of the first businesses in the Kansas City area dedicated to creating jobs for people with disabilities.

When you walk through our doors, you’ll find big smiles, delicious ice cream, and a team of passionate Heroes who love what they do. We believe everyone has something special to offer. Our goal is to help the world recognize those strengths.

Howdy Homemade began with a simple dream: to recognize and celebrate the potential in every person. Through smiles, hard work, and amazing ice cream, we create opportunities for people whom society has too often overlooked because of misconceptions about their abilities.

Every scoop celebrates the unique strengths of our Heroes—team members with intellectual and developmental disabilities who break down barriers and challenge stereotypes every day. At Howdy Homemade, joy, inclusion, and connection come together in every cone and cup.

We believe ice cream tastes even better when it is served with heart. Our Heroes are the heartbeat of Howdy Homemade. When you visit, you’ll experience the passion, purpose, and dedication they bring to every customer interaction.

We can’t wait to share the joy with you.
